Should I tip a flower delivery person?

If you are ordering flowers for yourself to be delivered to your home or place of business, you might consider tipping the delivery driver.  This especially holds true if you live a far distance from the flower shop or your driveway or property is harder to manage than most. Any amount is appreciated, we usually receive tips in the $1-$5 range. As a local florist in Columbia, Tennessee Bloomstall Flower Boutique is often asked to deliver flowers anonymously.  We have chosen to not take any order without full sender information.  We will leave a card unsigned but will always tell the receiver the sender's name when asked.  We have run into several issues where the receiver did not want to have any kind of contact with the sender.  We've even had an instance where someone with a restraining order against them tried to send flowers to their estranged spouse.  When we contacted the recipient to let them know we would be...

Florists are in the service industry and provide a hands-on experience.  They are artists that design and create custom flower arrangements that work with your occasion.  It is perfectly acceptable to tip a florist.  It should never be mandatory or appear on your invoice or receipt without consent.  If a gratuity is required, we suggest using a different flower shop.
